2 Dead, 1 Injured After Shooting at Colorado Walmart: Police

Two men were killed Wednesday night during a shooting at a Walmart Supercenter in the Denver, Colorado, suburb of Thornton, police said on Twitter. The Thornton Police Department said one woman was taken to a hospital. "The shooting happened inside the store," Officer Victor Avila told CNN. The location was evacuated. It was unclear whether anyone was in custody, but police said it was not an active shooter situation. Video from CNN affiliates showed a Walmart Supercenter parking lot filled with emergency vehicles. Jennifer Biglands walked over from her home after her sister called her frantically from inside the store. The sister said she heard seven or eight shots. The woman was so frantic and crying that Jennifer couldn't understand her, so she passed the phone to an employee who told her there had been an incident and that the woman would need a ride home. A witness told KTLA sister station FOX 31 in Denver that popping sounds could be heard inside the store bef...

Valley photographer raising awareness for premature births

A Valley photographer is on a mission to raise awareness about premature births with a special photo shoot.  One of every ten babies is born prematurely; photographer Malorie Kelley was one of them. That's why this project is very close to her heart. With November being Prematurity Awareness Month, Kelley is hoping to spread the word about this statistic.  "I want to show that there is a light at the end of the tunnel," said Kelley. "I was born 32 weeks. I was four pounds." And now, to raise awareness, Kelley is starting the preemie project. She takes pictures of kids with their original preemie photos, like Adalynn, who was born at just 23 weeks.  "It really is a rough road," said Adalynn's mom Kaitlyn Wilson. "We got very lucky because we had a baby who walked out of NICU. A lot of them don't." Adalynn only weighed about one pound. She spent 93 days in the NICU. She defied all the odds and made it out.  "Just so that people kn...

Ohio State exploring changes on kickoff team By Jim Naveau - jnaveau@limanews.com the new spirit mark (logo) for athletics at Ohio State University Slug - OSU Credit: Ohio State University. COLUMBUS — There might be changes in personnel coming on Ohio State's struggling kickoff coverage teams when Ohio State plays at Iowa on Saturday afternoon. OSU coach Urban Meyer, who had called his team's kickoffs "a joke" earlier this week referred to "the kicking debacle" on the Big Ten football coaches teleconference on Tuesday and said changes are coming. "We're going to make some changes in personnel. We just have to keep re-evaluating," Meyer said. Meyer said he is watching for signs of a letdown after last week's huge comeback to beat Penn State 39-38 but does not expect that to happen. "I'll watch that very closely. If it were a young, immature team I'd be more panicky than I am," he said. "They're ...

Murphy: Timberwolves do just enough to win memorable home opener

Hình ảnh
Minnesota basketball fans came to the Timberwolves' sparkling lair Friday night hoping to christen a memorable season, and they were treated to a fourth-quarter barnburner they won't soon forget. Woe and two was no way to treat a tormented base that has had to choke down more patience over the past decade-plus than Job. Not after the Wolves' curiously disjointed performance in Wednesday's season-opening loss at San Antonio. So when Jamal Crawford buried his game-winning 3-pointer with 28 seconds remaining, the newly renovated Target Center erupted in euphoria and relief as the latest new-look Wolves refused to go down the same old way. Their 100-97 victory over the Utah Jazz and returning crowd favorite Ricky Rubio was the right tonic at the right time, a sneak preview, perhaps, of more convincing wins and thrilling comebacks this balanced and hungry roster can finally deliver. "We did enough to win," grunted Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau. They also did ple...
